Goo Goo Dolls Announce Spring and Summer 2011 Tour Dates :
The Goo Goo Dolls have announced that they will hit the road for a spring U.S. tour beginning April 3rd in Oxford, Mississippi. The band is touring in support of their current album Something For The Rest Of Us.

Something For The Rest Of Us has spawned the hit single “Home,” which led the multi-platinum rock band to best their own record for the most Top 10 singles in the history of Billboard’s Nielsen BDS-based Adult Top 40 chart. The band — singer-guitarist Johnny Rzeznik, bassist Robby Takac, and drummer Mike Malinin — has notched its 14th Top 10 hit with “Home.”

The potent, melody-minded Something For The Rest Of Us, which debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, has earned raves from such media outlets as Billboard and USA Today, which praise the heft of Rzeznik’s songwriting as he addresses the emotional fallout from economic upheaval, war, and a 24-hour news cycle on society.

The GOO GOO DOLLS have extended their American tour with dates that will take the band across the U.S. through late August to support their current album, SOMETHING FOR THE REST OF US.

Goo Goo Dolls Biography
The Goo Goo Dolls formed in 1986 in Buffalo, New York, and consists of Johnny Rzeznik (vocals and guitar), Robby Takac (bass and vocals), and Mike Malinin (who replaced George Tutuska on drums). With a blend of pop, rock and alternative, the trio found success in the 90s. It took the band nearly a decade to hit it big with a pop ballad, and then only to find some fans and critics accusing the boys of selling out by hitting the mainstream. The band's name was taken from an ad found in True Detective magazine.

 This resilient Buffalo garage band formed in 1986 and got its start playing on the local club scene there. Johnny Rzeznik (vocals, guitar), Robbie Takac (vocals, bass) and George (drums) released their first independent album, Power, in 1987 and began building a local fan base. In 1988 they released Jed, on the L.A. indie label Metal Blade, creating a critical buzz that included raves from the Los Angeles Times ("a blast of school's-out exuberance") and Rolling Stone ("thrash-packed pop and well-articulated rage"). .. full Goo Goo Dolls biography
